ECA's Dementia-Inclusive Series: PETER PAN

(Herbert Brenon, 1924, USA, 105 min)

PETER PAN is presented as part of MUSICALS ARE GOLDEN: A CELEBRATION OF CLASSIC FILM. Soar to Neverland with Peter Pan and the Darling children as harpist-composer Leslie McMichael unfurls her lush and enchanting original score to the 1924 silent film release. Magnificently restored after having been lost for more than 70 years, PETER PAN is a cinematic gem and a spellbinding musical adventure for all boys and girls and those who never grew up.

The score, performed on concert, Celtic and electric harps, was commissioned by Northwest Film Forum and has been played in cities across the country.

ABOUT THE SERIES:
MUSICALS ARE GOLDEN!: A CELEBRATION OF CLASSIC FILM is a special co-presentation by Edmonds Center for the Arts (ECA) and Northwest Film Forum, in partnership with Elderwise and Barclay Shelton Dance Centre. As part of ECA’s Dementia-Inclusive Series, the program has developed collaboratively with the mission to create opportunities for individuals with memory loss, their family members and care partners to engage and experience joy through the arts.

Each film event is designed to be “dementia-inclusive” with the consultation support of Elderwise (elderwise.org). Audience members will be made aware that some patrons may talk or get up during the film – which is OK! Theatre house lights are left on low so the audience can see and move around if necessary.

Although these film events are designed for people affected by dementia, their care partners and family members, MUSICALS ARE GOLDEN! is open and welcoming to an all-ages audience. In particular, the series presents an opportunity for younger family members, grandchildren and friends to spend time with elders in an intergenerational setting, and to connect over classic films.

Funding Provided by: Hazel Miller Foundation.
In partnership with: Northwest Film Forum, Elderwise, and Barclay Shelton Dance Centre.
