Kidstock! 2018

Edmonds Center for the Arts (ECA) presents our 6th annual Kidstock!, a FREE arts celebration for children and families. As the cornerstone of ECA's family programming, Kidstock! engages kids from a young age in diverse and exciting arts experiences. The event features musical performances, theatre, arts education workshops and activities throughout the ECA campus.


Recess Monkey
9:45-10:30 am

Recess Monkey is the GRAMMY-nominated trio of Seattle teachers who make music for kids and families that truly rocks! Known for prolific, eclectic musical output and their contagiously exciting live shows, Recess Monkey strives to strike a balance between focusing on kid-centric ideas and passions and musical authenticity. 

Book-It Repertory Theatre
11:00-11:45 am
Lonnie loves rockets, robots, and inventing! With persistence and a passion for problem-solving, Lonnie uses his creative mind to become an engineer and work with NASA. Although he invented many things, the Super Soaker made the biggest splash in popular culture.

Morning Star Korean Cultural Center

The Morning Star Korean Cultural Center was founded in 1985 under the direction of Jiyeon Cheh, with the purpose of teaching Korean dance, music, and heritage to those interested in sharing Korean culture. The Center is committed to enriching lives through artistic expression, educational opportunities and cultural appreciation.

De Cajon Project
1:30-2:15 pm
This Seattle-based performance group is born of the rich musical heritage of African descent Peruvians. "De cajon" is a Peruvian expression that means "for sure!" "rain or shine!" "without questions!" A cajon is also a box-shaped drum, the driving percussive element at the heart of Afro-Peruvian music. Deeply aware of the historic roots and contemporary manifestations of Afro-Peruvian arts and culture, De Cajon strives to offer a vibrant reclamation of this tradition.

The Not-Its!
2:45-3:30 pm
Returning to Kidstock! by popular demand are The Not-Its! For more than seven years, the group has rocked kids and families with their up-tempo albums and love concerts that give children their first, "rock show" experience. With the release of their sixth studio album, Are You Listening?, this Seattle "Kindie Rock" quintet will have children and their parents on their feet screaming for more, the moment they hit the dance floor. So grab your pink & black tutus and skinny ties and join The Not-Its! Nation!

"Let's Make a Puppet!"
Intergenerational Workshop
with Silver Kite Community Arts

All Ages
There are characters coming to life out of a recycling bin! During this hands-on interactive workshop, participants build characters out of paper towel rolls, egg containers, and other recyclables. After the characters are built, we bring them to life by creating stories and acting them out.

"Themes in Motion" Workshop
This workshop is limited to 35 participants. First come, first served.

Students will enter the world of WHOOSH! using voice, body, and imagination to explore themes, characters, and events.

Ukulele Workshop

This workshop is limited to 30 participants. First come, first served.

Ages 7 and up
Join local musician Kalani Kaha'iali'i in this interactive ukulele experience! (Instruments provided.) Maximum 30 participants.
