ECA Presents The True Loves | Thursday, July 07, 2022 | 06:30pm - 08:00pm | $25-$35

An Outdoor Curbside Event | ECA’s Summer Series

Listening to the abundant sounds of the Seattle-based funk & soul group, The True Loves, is like walking down a favorite neighborhood street, slapping-five with friends, checking up with clerks in their stores, admiring your own dark sun-glassed face in their windows, ducking under flowerpots and smelling the familiar smells of your most cherished locale. The band is its own block party.

What began in 2014 as a jam session between three of the city’s best - pocket-perfect drummer David McGraw, intoxicating bassist Bryant Moore and otherworldly guitarist Jimmy James - has since blossomed into a global force that now features percussionist Iván Galvez and four horn players: trombonists Jason Cressey and Greg Kramer and saxophonists Gordon Brown and Skerik. Together, the group’s live performances have garnered them much local acclaim and millions of streams on YouTube.

This performance is a curbside event presented as part of ECA’s Summer Series. All Curbside events will take place outside in ECA’s parking lot, open at limited capacity. In the event of inclement weather, performances will be held indoors in ECA’s theatre.

ECA Presents La Dame Blanche | Thursday, July 14, 2022 | 07:30pm - 09:00pm | $25-$35

Part of ECA’s Summer Series

With her explosive mix of hip hop, cumbia, dancehall and reggae, the Cuban singer, flautist and percussionist, Yaite Ramos Rodriguez, aka La Dame Blanche, delivers a powerful and compelling sound which summons the spirits.

The smoke of an inaugural cigar prior to setting foot on set, a glass of rum left backstage, necklaces, white flowers, a pristine turban: for her appearances on stage, la Dame Blanche feeds the energy of the spirits of Santeria, her Afro-Cuban religion. In real life, away from the limelight, this singer, flautist and percussionist is Yaite Ramos Rodriguez… A mischievous response during a conversation reveals her character: a slender and diaphanous figure, a legend who haunts nocturnal roads and the imagination of children all over the world.  You have to believe the jokes and the evidence. Witty and charming, Yaite tames La Dame Blanche. Everything comes together.

This performance, presented as part of ECA’s Summer Series, will take place in ECA’s theatre.

ECA Presents The Black Tones | Thursday, July 28, 2022 | 06:30pm - 08:30pm | $25-$35

An Outdoor Curbside Event | ECA’s Summer Series

Seattle-based rock ‘n’ roll band, The Black Tones, welcomes audiences into their musical family every time they take the stage. Whether sharing an evening with the group as it opens for Weezer, Death Cab for Cutie, or Mavis Staples, or rocking a late night gig as the band headlines its own show (with mother and siblings in tow) at a prominent Emerald City venue, to know The Black Tones is to be a part of their extended sonic kin.

Founded by twin siblings, Eva and Cedric Walker, the band has grown from humble beginnings in their grandmother’s basement to receiving accolades from outlets like KEXP, which named their debut LP, Cobain & Cornbread (recorded by the legendary Jack Endino), the #17 album of 2019; The Seattle Times, which dubbed the group one of the 15 Most Influential Artists of the past decade; and NPR, which named the band one of Seattle’s 15 groups redefining the city.

This performance is a curbside event presented as part of ECA’s Summer Series. All Curbside events will take place outside in ECA’s parking lot, open at limited capacity. In the event of inclement weather, performances will be held indoors in ECA’s theatre.

ECA Presents Feufollet | Thursday, August 04, 2022 | 06:30pm - 08:00pm | $25-$35

An Outdoor Curbside Event | ECA’s Summer Series

The young and vibrant Southwest Louisiana band takes Cajun, honky-tonk, and string-band music as their starting point, and keeps an open mind about where their song craft will lead them. On Two Universes, their first studio album in over five years, Feufollet proves their Cajun roots don’t define them as much as propel them forward; whispers of the swamp and its time-honored waltzes trigger a modern and broad musical imagination, one that finds equal expression in blues, old-time, country ballads, rock ‘n’ roll, whatever, all for the sake of the song.

Cajun, country, and rock ‘n’ roll all began as homespun enterprises, by musicians tinkering with inherited melodies until new sounds were struck. Feufollet keeps that experimental spirit alive and well with their diverse musical palette, edgy arrangements, and pop-song sensibilities.

This performance is a curbside event presented as part of ECA’s Summer Series. All Curbside events will take place outside in ECA’s parking lot, open at limited capacity. In the event of inclement weather, performances will be held indoors in ECA’s theatre.

An Outdoor Curbside Event | ECA’s Summer Series

Lebanese indie stalwart Zeid Hamdan and celestially voiced Syrian singer Lynn Adib are Bedouin Burger, a rising duo from the Middle East. Their music marries traditional Arab sounds of magam, religious songs of ancient Syria, jazz, and slick pop hooks – all delivered with a sultry, insouciant flare. Performing as a trio, Bedouin Burger is accompanied by bassist Miles Jay.
