ECA Presents Jeremy Dutcher

/

Jeremy Dutcher is a classically-trained Canadian Indigenous tenor, composer, musicologist, performer, and activist. Jeremy takes every opportunity to blend his Wolastoq First Nation roots into the music he creates blending distinct musical aesthetics that shape-shift between classical, traditional, and pop to form something entirely new.

Pre-Show Talk: 6:15 pm (Free Admission)

Jeremy Dutcher’s Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa is a living record of an endangered language. This pre-show program will address Dutcher’s process in creating the Polaris Award-winning album and include Tulalip Tribe member and Lushootseed language teacher Lois Landgrebe. Our speakers will discuss Dutcher’s process creating the album in the Wolastoq language, and localize the conversation around critical work happening in Tulalip’s Lushootseed Department. Moderated by Gillian Jones, ECA Director of Programming. Special thanks to the University of Washington Bothell for partnership on ECA’s pre-show talk series in 2019/20.

ECA will be selling cheese plates during happy hour.

Sponsored by Rick & Charlotte Canning and Laura Ellis. With generous support by the Consulate General of Canada in Seattle. Additional funding provided by the Edmonds Diversity Commission.
