Hamlet Acting & Combat Camp with Seattle Shakespeare Company
Dates: July 11 - 15
Something is rotten in the State of Denmark!Students will dive into one of Shakespeare's most famous plays, reading scenes and practicing acting techniques to bring these characters to the stage. They will also learn improv games to hone their acting skills, and will practice stage combat to bring the duels of this tragedy to life! The week will culminate in a showcase of scenes and fights from Hamlet for family and friends.
"Investigate, Adapt, Act!" with Book-It Repertory Theatre
Dates: July 18 - 22
What if you could bring your favorite book to life?! With Book-It, students will dig into the juicy parts of a story – characters, setting, sequence, point of view – then take it apart and put it together again as a script to act out on stage. After spending the week in teamwork with their peers exploring stories in a fun, physical way, this new “acting ensemble” will share their work in a final performance for family and friends.
Rockin' Rhythms Marimba Camp
Dates: July 25 - 29
Come join the band! In this new, hands-on music camp, kids will learn to play melodies, harmonies and fun rhythms, as well as how to keep time on a variety of marimbas, hand percussion and drums. Campers will learn by ear through a humorous, kid-centered approach and explore the elements of music through interactive movement and community-building drum circle games. The special connection between the Pacific Northwest and Zimbabwean marimba music will also be explored. No experience necessary, and all skill levels welcome! Students will perform for family and friends on the last day of camp.
Hawaiian & Polynesian Cultural Camp
Dates: August 1 - 5
ECA's Hawaiian & Polynesian Cultural Camp returns this summer! Students will take ukulele and hula lessons throughout the week, as well as explore Hawaii and its Polynesian "cousin cultures" through song, cultural arts, and Tahitian drumming and dance. Campers will have the opportunity to share what they have learned in a final performance for family and friends.
"I think he may have a love for the arts and we just didn't recognize it. His excitement for your puppet camp surprised me; I always thought he was more of the sports type because of his activity level. So, I thank ECA for giving us opportunities to expose him in fun active ways that are affordable."
