Patron Code of Conduct
Edmonds Center for the Arts (ECA) is committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment for all patrons, artists, staff, and volunteers. As a nonprofit organization and community hub, ECA is also invested in stewarding our beautiful historic building and campus. The following Code of Conduct has been established for all patrons and guests to ensure everyone who enters our venue has an enjoyable experience.
Respect for Others
- Patrons will be treated in a consistent professional and courteous manner by all ECA staff and volunteers.
- Patrons will treat all individuals with dignity and respect regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, age, ability, or background.
- Harassment, discrimination, abusive language, or threatening behavior will not be tolerated.
- Disruptive or intoxicated behavior that interferes with the enjoyment of others may result in removal from the premises.
Accessibility & Inclusion
- ECA is committed to ensuring accessibility for all. If you or a guest require accommodation, please contact the box office in advance.
- Patrons will respect accessible seating and areas reserved for patrons with disabilities.
- Please review ECA’s Accessible Policies & Services >>
Venue Etiquette
- Late seating is at the discretion of the house staff and may occur during designated pauses.
- Backpacks, large bags, and other cumbersome items must be left at our complimentary coat and bag check, available near Door C on the Upper Landing. ECA staff and volunteers have the discretion to request that patrons check their items.
- Patrons will turn off or silence all electronic devices before entering the performance space.
- Flash photography, video, and audio recording are prohibited unless specifically permitted by the artist or event.
- Patrons will refrain from using devices that emit light or sound during performances.
- Only ECA issued covered cups are allowed in the theater. Patrons will refrain from placing cups on the stage. Food is not permitted in the theater.
- ECA is a seated venue. As such, patrons who wish to dance are encouraged to dance seated in their seats and to be courteous to those around them.
- Blocking the theater aisles is a fire hazard. For the safety of all guests, aisles and exits must remain clear at all times. Additionally, the area in front of the stage should not be used for standing or dancing.
- Smoking or vaping of any kind is prohibited.
- Intentionally damaging ECA property is prohibited.
Children & Families
- Children are very welcome at ECA events; however, please consider age-appropriateness before attending.
- All attendees, regardless of age, must have a ticket unless otherwise stated.
- Patrons will supervise their children at all times and step out of the theater if they become disruptive.
Safety & Security
- Patrons will follow all directions from ECA staff and security personnel.
- Weapons, illegal substances, and dangerous items are strictly prohibited. Please see our full list of Prohibited Items below.
- In case of an emergency, patrons will remain calm and follow staff instructions for evacuation or sheltering in place.
Ticketing & Entry
- Only valid tickets purchased through ECA or its authorized outlets will be accepted.
- Tickets may not be resold or distributed in violation of venue policies.
Consequences of Misconduct
ECA staff may intervene when necessary to help ensure that the above expectations are met, and patrons are encouraged to report any inappropriate behavior to the nearest staff member or volunteer. Guests who choose not to adhere to these provisions will be subject to verbal warnings, removal from the venue without refund and notification of law enforcement if necessary.
